In December 2014, President Teresa A. Sullivan established the President's Ad Hoc Group on University Climate and Culture. The Ad Hoc Group serves as an advisory body to the President and was created to explore policies, practices and organizational structure, as well as the resources necessary to support the ultimate goal of providing an outstanding education while ensuring the safety and well-being of students. Its membership includes students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and two members of the University's Board of Visitors.
In January 2015, President Sullivan created three working groups reporting to the Ad Hoc Group. Each group's members include students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and a member of the Board of Visitors. The purpose of each working group is to delve into its general topic (Prevention, Response, and Culture) and to consider what steps the University might reasonably take to improve its culture, prevent sexual violence, and respond to incidents of sexual violence when they occur. The working groups will meet throughout the semester and report to Ad Hoc Group in late spring.
